Congratulations – you did it!
And we're extremely proud of you all. You've helped make this years event the biggest to date.
Congratulations to all 2008 Trailwalkers!
The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment were the winners of this years event, completing the 100km event on foot in just 10 hours, 13 minutes and 34 seconds!
502 teams of four started the endurance challenge on Saturday morning, with the last team ‘A Clean Pair of Heels’, arriving at 16:21 Sunday afternoon with huge smiles and cheering supporters.
‘This year’s Trailwalker has broken all records. 502 teams at the start line, 495 finished with at least one member still walking, 287 complete teams finished, and 83% of individuals crossed the finish line. Everyone working together to raise a whopping £515,000 to date is amazing, so thank you for helping Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust overcome poverty and social injustice around the world’.
Lisa Seddon - Oxfam Trailwalker Manager
‘We are thrilled that we have had so many people involved in Trailwalker this year. As well as 2000 walkers, there were also as many Support Crew, 100 amazing volunteers, and over 300 Gurkha soldiers. A huge thank you to all the support crews, volunteers, and sponsors who made the event possible and contributed so much to the wonderful atmosphere of Trailwalker’
Captain Sarah Bill - Trailwalker Co-ordinator
Supported by principal sponsor State Street for the third consecutive year, Trailwalker 2008 has been embraced by communities along the trail, the walkers who put in the hard yards, the amazing volunteers and the incredibly generous donors.

When will the official results be available?
The preliminary results will be available on the afternoon of Monday, 21 July. The official results will then be posted during week commencing 28 July.
My team didn’t finish as a team of 4. Will we still be listed in the official results?
Teams finishing with 3 or less members, and just outside the 30 hours, will be listed with all individuals who completed the event.
All teams finishing as a 4, within 30 hours will appear in the table of qualifying teams.
I didn’t receive my certificate at the event. Will I still get one?
Your certificate will be sent to you in the post and you should receive it by the end of August. Please contact the Trailwalker Support Team at events@oxfam.org.uk, if you haven’t received yours.
My certificate has the wrong time on it.
We're aware that all teams who started at 8.30am have had extra time added to their certificates. We will be re-sending all of these with the correct time.
How do I retrieve my lost property?
Lost property will be taken back to Oxfam House and remain there a week after the event, after which point, all unclaimed items will be donated to an Oxfam shop.
Please contact the Trailwalker Support Team as soon as possible to check if we have your lost property item: events@oxfam.org.uk or 0870 905 9060.
When do I have to send my sponsorship in by?
As soon as possible would be great – so we can quickly put it to where it’s needed the most! However, the official deadline is 30 September 2008.
I’ve heard about a celebration evening for teams. When is this taking part?
Each year we celebrate your achievements at the Trailwalker Celebration Evening, in London. The event usually takes place at the end of October. We will notify you of the details nearer the time.Fundraising made fun and easy
By raising money through Trailwalker, you’ll be
making a big difference to
many people all around the world.
This section contains a few ideas to help you get started.
E-fundraising
There are loads of reasons why fundraising online is good idea.
- People give more on-line - the average online pledge is £30.
- You can choose when to send the link round – try payday, or the festive season.
- Reach friends, family, contacts and colleagues - near and far.
- No cash chasing for you after the event– as the money is all processed for you.
- Sponsors can tick the Gift Aid box that lets charities claim the tax back on donations.
Also – it’s easy to set up. So we think it makes sense for everyone. Set up a page now.
Although there are other e-fundraising providers, Just Giving is Oxfam’s preferred supplier for Trailwalker. Use them, and you’ll help us to allocate your raised funds quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Please note the Gift Aid part of your sponsors' contributions will not be included in your fundraising total. This is because tax is not actually claimed back until some time after the event.
Matched giving
Many companies offer 'matched giving schemes' to encourage their staff to support charities. This could double the amount you raise in one go, so it's worth checking out. Your employer might support you in other ways too – giving use of meeting rooms, photocopiers, telephones etc.
Download your matched giving form here.
