A message from our Director
A message from Barbara Stocking CBE, Director of Oxfam GB
I joined Oxfam in 2001, and I am proud to say that my years here have been among the most rewarding of my career.
The name Oxfam means different things to different people. To many people in the UK, it’s a local charity shop. To other people around the world, it may be the relief agency which came to provide shelter and clean water when disaster hit their community.
Others recognise Oxfam GB as the national and international voice that speaks out against poverty and suffering – part of a global force that calls for those with the power to act against the causes of poverty, to do so.
Every job at Oxfam is a responsible one – whatever your role, its ultimate goal will be to help every person on this planet towards a life of dignity and opportunity. Oxfam believes that every individual deserves the right to be secure, healthy, skilled, safe, heard, and equal. To turn this belief into a reality, Oxfam demands the highest standards of professionalism, innovation, and cost-effectiveness at all times. Our loyal supporters, who provide so much of the funding for our work, expect nothing less from us.
If these challenges inspire you, then take your first step towards joining Oxfam today! Oxfam thrives on the diversity of its staff, who come from many varied backgrounds. So I hope that you find a vacancy to which you can match your particular skills, experience, and interests. If you don’t find anything suitable on your visit today, please leave us your details, or come back another time.
Good luck!
